There are several very specific advantages for a shipper to become a Known Consignor under the Department for Transport / Civil Aviation Authority Air Cargo Security Regime. It allows consignments to travel as air cargo that might otherwise be impossible to security screen. There will be no delay waiting for security clearance and eliminate any security charges imposed by the freight agent or airline.
To achieve Known Consignor status a shipper must satisfy certain criteria. This includes the way shipments are identified as air cargo, which staff have access to them and the methods of storing and handling such shipments.
The process of becoming a Known Consignor involves an annual validation visit by an approved DfT/CAA Validator. In anticipation of that TrainingTeam can help with a 'pre-audit' visit by an authorised validator, something the DfT/CAA don’t organise. Thus helping to eliminate any possible problems that might delay the final approval.
Known Consignor staff involved with air cargo will require specific awareness training by an approved trainer, TrainingTeam can help with this and any other questions a prospective Known Consignor may have.
